Veterans Day is a time for us to pay our respects to those who have served. For one day, we stand united in respect for you, our veterans.
This holiday started as a day to reflect upon the heroism of those who died in our country's service and was originally called Armistice Day fell on Nov. 11 because that is the anniversary of the signing of the Armistice that ended World War I. However, in 1954, the holiday was changed to "Veterans Day" in order to account for all veterans in all wars.
We celebrate and honor America’s Veterans their patriotism, love of country and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good.
Celebrating Veteran’s Day is an opportunity to show your commitment to supporting those who wore our Nation's uniform.
There are many ways to thank the men and women in your company or community who have served in the military. One way is to recognize them and offer your appreciation for their service. While celebrating Veteran’s Day, River Valley Now welcomes you to share a photo of a Veteran to recognize and thank them for their service on our Facebook page.
River Valley Now thanks all Veterans for their service to our nation and for their many sacrifices that help keep us free.
