The Arkansas State Police, Clarksville Police Department and the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office are currently on scene at the Clarksville Walmart after an incident occurred just after 4 p.m. this afternoon. Pafford EMS, Johnson County EMS and the Clarksville Fire Department were also dispatched to respond although it was unknown if anyone had sustained injuries.

According to dispatchers, a call was received reporting shots fired at the Clarksville Walmart and employees were beginning to evacuate customers from the store. Troopers with the Arkansas State Police and other city and county officers arrived on scene, set up a staging area for command and then continued to evacuate the store in order to secure the scene and begin their investigation.

Upon entering the store, officers located employees who were still in the store hiding in the pharmacy.

Although no injuries have been reported in the incident, one employee was treated by EMS for a knee injury they sustained from falling.

According to reports, there was at least “one loud pop” reported inside the store, but it has not been confirmed that it was a gun shot. Despite other information shared on social media, there is no active shooter in the store. 

At this time, law enforcement remains on scene and Market Street is closed to traffic as the incident is being investigated. Traffic is being rerouted at the intersection of Market Street and South Rogers.
