Decisions by two of the top four initial applicants for marijuana dispensary licenses in Zone 4, will now allow a license to be awarded in Russellville, it appears.

Scott Hardin, Communication Director for the Arkansas Department of Finance said this week that two of the four applicants initially approved for Zone 4, had chosen to act on applications they possess in other zones.  State law indicates that companies with multiple zone application, must select the zone of their choice; but; can possess only one license. Valentine Holdings and Natural State Wellness have since decided to select other zone holding. Valentine opted to open a Fayetteville location in Zone 1 and Natural State a Little Rock location in Zone 5, both forfeiting their Zone 4 holding.  River Valley Dispensary in Bluffton in Yell County and Fort Cannabis CO in Fort Smith; remain in Zone 4.  As a result, Hardin indicated the Russellville dispensary applicant will be 420RX.  Similar changes will also permit a Johnson County dispensary to be licensed in Clarksville.  Initially, 32 businesses were selected, but several applicants were involved with the multiple zone option. Those receiving dispensary authorization would next be required to pay a 15-thousand dollar licensing fee and a 100-thousand dollar performance bond.
