Pursuant to Arkansas Code Annotated §1-5-115, on December 12, 2018, Governor Asa Hutchinson signed a proclamation declaring January 27th of each year to be known as "Firefighter Recognition Day" to honor the men and women who make extraordinary sacrifices while in the line of duty on behalf of the State of Arkansas.

In the proclamation Governor Hutchinson states, "Volunteer firefighters make up the vast majority of firefighters in the State and deserve to be recognized for their willingness to faithfully provide courageous service, usually without monetary compensation.

River Valley Now would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all firefighters throughout the River Valley. Thank you for your selfless dedication, sacrifice, the countless hours training and for your commitment in serving us all. You are greatly appreciated.
