On Saturday, October 2nd, a Plainview resident Jeff Larch, 37 and his fishing partner, Jared Fyock, 37 of Ashdown, Arkansas won the Mr. Crappie® $250,000.00 Invitational. The invitations was held September 30th thru October 2nd, 2021 on the Red River in Shreveport, Louisiana.
The Arkansas fishing duo captured first place and received the $100,000 grand prize check after their last weigh-in on Saturday afternoon.
Winning the invitational was no small feat, as 100 of the top crappie-fishing teams in America competed for a "big chunk" of $250,000. The MR. CRAPPIE® $250,000 Invitational is considered the richest crappie tournament in the world!
The invitational kicked off on Thursday, September 30th and weigh-ins were at 3 p.m. on at the Red River south marina parking lot. At the weigh-in, Larch and Fyock brought in 11.90 pounds and took an early lead.
On the second day’s weigh-in (Friday October 1st), the Larch/Fyock team did not disappoint capturing 11.69 pounds and maintaining 1st place with a total of 23.59 pounds.
Day 3 of the invitational kicked off early Saturday morning October 2nd and at 3 p.m., the final weigh-ins were held at the Shreveport Convention Center.
To be crowned champions over the 2nd place team of Justin Smart and Wesley Miller, Larch/Fyock needed to weigh-in 8.49 pounds. After some anticipation, Larch and Fyock weighed in a consistent 11.69 pounds maintaining their first place lead with a total of 35.27 pounds.
