The Russellville Cyclones nipped the heels of the Fayetteville Bulldogs -- a team that beat them 17 points last year -- on Tuesday but fell 69-63.
Fayetteville opened on a 7-0 tear, but the Cyclones answered with a 7-0 run of their own. The Bulldogs led 12-9 at the end of the first quarter. By halftime, Russellville trailed 28-20.
Donyae May, who finished the game with 26 points, scored 11 in the first half.
Russellville fell behind 50-45 at the end of the third quarter and trailed 60-63 with 40 seconds left in the game.
May's 26 led the Cyclones in scoring. Grayson Sims scored 15. Caleb Carter scored eight points.
Russellville travels Republic, Missouri for the Republic Invite on Dec. 2-4.
