Russellville 66, Mountain Home 59
The Russellville Cyclones (5-4) broke a two game losing streak with a 66-59 victory over the Mountain Home Bombers (2-7) Thursday night. The Cyclones used a late first quarter surge and never really looked back. With Russellville down 17-14 with in the waning moments of the first quarter the Cyclones scored the last six points of the quarter to take a 20-17 lead. The Cyclones then extended the lead to nine points by halftime. The Russellville lead got to as large as 14 points, but the Bombers were able to cut the lead to four to get within striking distance. Ryan Sitkowski’s enormous fourth quarter kept the Bombers at bay. Sitkowski scored 11 of his game high 20 points in the fourth quarter. He also added 13 rebounds to his total. Bo Mathis added 15 points and Trey Allen added 14 points for the Cyclones. The Cyclones will participate in the Hoops for Hunger tournament where they will take on DeQueen at 8:30 on Dec. 27.

Russellville 43, Mountain Home 35
Coach Sherry White’s team broke a three game losing streak themselves with their 43-35 victory over the Mountain Home Lady Bombers (6-4). The Lady Cyclones (5-4) used pressure defense and a faster pace to get the Lady Bombers out of their comfort zone. Russellville was able to get it going in the second half after only scoring 13 first half points the Lady Cyclones scored 30 second half points (15 in both the third and fourth quarters). Anna Myers lead the Lady Cyclones with 15 points. The Lady Cyclones face the Lady Mavericks of Fort Smith Southside in the first round of the Hoops for Hunger Tournament at Cyclone Arena on Dec. 27 at 7:00 pm.
