Dover Pirates

Dover senior girls lost at the North Arkansas College Invitational Tournament to Alpena 59-44.

Coach Charlie Melton said of the game, “We were able to get a lot of good things out of this game.  We competed and hung with one of the top teams in the state in their territory.  We were proud of our girls for coming out and competing like that.  We also were able to take them out of their game of pressure and keep this game within striking distance.  This will go a long way in helping us get better for our conference stretch.”  Avery Sweeney lead Dover with 16 points.

Dover teams will take on Dardanelle Jan. 4 at 6 pm.

“This was a good conference win for us.  It’s always tough to go on the road and even tougher across the river to play in Dardanelle.  They always have good coaching and a good atmosphere.  We were able to get our press going and that helped dictate the game.

Bree McCrotty lead the Lady Pirates with 11 points and Avie Reams added 10.
