Pottsville's Blake Andrews shoots a 3-pointer in the Apaches' 72-39 victory Tuesday 12-11-18

Pottsville 72, Heber Springs 39 Sr. Boys

The Pottsville Apaches Sr. Boys (7-2, 1-1) took down the Heber Springs Panthers in swift fashion on Tuesday night 72-39.  The Apaches were propelled by a 26 point first quarter and never really looked back.  Logan Porter led charge with 11 first quarter points.  The Apaches bombed away from the three-point line hitting 10 in the first three quarters where they invoked the mercy rule at the end of the third quarter with a 40 point advantage. Coach Shane Thurman said about his Apaches, "We got off to a good start tonight and offensively we played about as good as we could play."  That may be an understatement as the Apaches were on pace for 100 points before emptying the bench early into the third quarter.  Nine Apaches scored in their domination of the Panthers. Wesley Heikes lead all scorers with 23 points and Logan Porter added 14 for the apaches.

Pottsville 57, Heber Spring 51 Sr. Girls

In a game that was pretty much nip and tuck the whole way the Pottsville Sr. Girls (5-5, 1-1) handed Heber Springs their second loss of the season on Tuesday night.  Sophia Hampton helped the Lady Apaches off to a great start by scoring their first 10 points of the game. The game got a little bit sloppy in the second quarter as Heber used their press to turn Pottsville over.  The Lady Apaches were still able to keep a 30-28 lead going into the half.  Coach Siebenmorgan commented on Abby James' ability to get teammates involved even though her shot was not falling early.  He added she came up with some big buckets late in the game.  Coach Siebenmorgan said, "We ended up pulling out a conference victory at home not matter how ugly it is it's a good one."  Abby James lead the Lady Apaches with 16 points, Sophia Hampton added 14, and Shannon Lasey also scored double figures with 10 points.
