The Pottsville Lady Apaches volleyball team picked up two wins last week. Pottsville defeated the Clarksville Lady Panthers 14-25, 25-10, 25-13, 25-17 and the Dover Lady Pirates 25-19, 25-23, 22-25, 21-25, 15-4.

Against Clarksville the Lady Apaches were led by Claire Carothers with 13 kills, two aces and four digs. Sara Francis had eight kills, two aces and four digs.

"The defense stepped up after the first set," Pottsville head coach Kara Braeutigam said. "We had a slow start. Freshman Drue Hollis came in off the bench, and her scrappy defensive play, consistent serving and great communication was the spark we needed to get things rolling."

Abby Duvall finished the game with 17 digs, followed by Tawnie Sweeden with 11. Lauren White contributed 10 d igs, along with 24 assists.

Against Dover, Claire Carothers had 19 kills and five digs. Lauren White had 12 kills, 35 assists and eight digs.

Sara Francis had 10 kills, two aces and five digs. Abby Duvall had 26 digs.

The wins improved the Lady Apaches to 3-1 overall and 2-1 in the 4A-4 Conference.
