Over spring break, the cyclone track and field team had two athletes travel to Texas to compete unattached in a distance event against top level competition.
During that event, junior distance runner Brooklyn Nicholson broke her second school record in as many years by breaking the 18 year old school record in the mile by more than a second.
The previous record was set by Brittany Blackmon in 2005. Brooklyn ran eleven seconds faster than she ever has. "She is a young lady that has always been committed to running and her hard work is paying off", says coach Ben Goodman.
Last year, Nicholson broke the school record in the two mile run the very first time she ran it. "She is very talented and is a true leader for our girls track team", Goodman concluded.
After a well deserved spring break, she and the cyclones will be back in action in Fayetteville on March 31st.
