The Pottsville Apaches will be competing for the opportunity to play for the state championship in both baseball and softball on Monday.
The Apache softball team (17-9) will be taking on conference foe Morrilton (25-6) who has beaten Pottsville the four previous times. Pottsville beat the host Batesville Southside 5-2 then took down Bauxite 5-1, who had beaten them in the state championship game last season.
The Pottsville baseball team (20-5) will also be taking on a familiar foe for the opportunity to get to the state championship Monday at 4:30 pm. The Apaches are facing off with the Shiloh Christian Saints (23-5). The Apaches and Saints crossed paths in the 4A north regional tournament. Shiloh took a 3-2 victory after Pottsville was unable to hold on to a 2-0 lead in the final inning.
The finals will be held in Fayetteville at the University of Arkansas. Baseball to be held at Baum Stadium while softball will be held at Bogel Park. The times and dates for the state finals will be announced after the semi-final games.
